Not all assessments need to be formal. Here are some suggestions:
  1. Research. Teacher observation of student being on task in class. Review of the wiki page for accurate and complete answers. Score 1-10
  2. Collaboration. The discussion tab collaboration and comments assessments can be either formal with a grade given for each discussion or rather informal with a review of the entries for being on topic and complete.1-10
  3. Project. Content is critical in any project. The same rubric can be used for each different type of project. You are looking for the content first and foremost. You can include a category for the presentation of the project as well. If you want the project to be worth 100 points, you can have 10 of the points for the quality of the podcast, news article, etc. That would leave 70 points for the content, answering the essential question, and completing all parts, with 10 points each for research (#1), collaboration (#2), and quality of project (#3).
  4. Self-assessment by students and students assessing other students' projects are also viable options.

It's always a good idea to distribute the rubric before students complete the project.
